Tornado Tom featured in the yearbook!
How it StartedThe origins of Tornado Tom date back to my early days in 7th grade when I was a behinds-the-scenes member of HawkTV. One day after a broadcast I suggested to Mr. Walsh that we should consider adding a weather segment to our broadcast. I did not anticipate his response, he said “Okay, you do it!”. The following week the first episode of Tornado Tom Weather aired. From that day on we continued to develop the weather segment as we broadcasted each Monday and Friday during Hawk TV. Tornado Tom Weather continued throughout my 8th grade year, but I figured that upon my graduation from the middle school Tornado Tom Weather would be retired.

Freshmen Year |
It wasn’t long into my freshmen year that the opportunity presented itself for possibly continuing Tornado Tom Weather. My course schedule included the TV Video Production course taught by Mr. Treadway. Mr. Treadway is my homeroom, and is also the faculty adviser for UHSTV. A few weeks into the semester I asked Mr. Treadway if I could continue Tornado Tom Weather on UHSTV and he said yes. I asked my friend Gavin to help me get thing started. Since then we have continuously been refining our production which broadcasts each Tuesday and Friday during UHSTV.

My Favorite Part |
I would have to say my favorite part of doing the weather is when kids stop me in the hallway and tell me how much they enjoyed my broadcast, or how they look forward to seeing the broadcast. Tornado Tom Weather is more than just presenting the weather, it is my chance to add a little sunshine to the lives of my school mates.

Tornado Tom Featured in The Indian Post |
This is Tornado Tom and here is my long term forecast for the remainder of the school year.
Punxsutawney Phil peaked his head out just long enough to let us know we could expect six more weeks of winter, and so far he’s been right. Rumor has it that the little guy was so cold he came out in his bathrobe and slippers and quickly returned to his warm cozy bed. The month of February was very cold and we had our fair share of snow and ice, but not many two hour delays and very few snow days. Fortunately we didn't get the snow our neighbors in New England are still buried under! Spring is now quickly approaching, we have already move our clocks ahead and the daylight is lasting longer each day. On Thursday, March 19, after a long and extremely cold winter spring will finally arrive. I am forecasting many sunny days for March with temperatures on the rise. We should have good weather to kick off our spring sports season. Moving into April we will experience increasing temperatures, but as the saying goes April showers bring May flowers. I can't rule out the chance for rain for the month of April, but I am anticipating May flowers and plenty of sun for our last full month of school. I see warm tempuatures for the month of May and the warming trend continuing into June. Gradution Day should bright and sunny and the last day of school, well the weather really doesn't matter that day, it's the begining of summer vacation. And don’t forget one important thing, weatherman is just another way of saying “this guy has no idea what’s going to happen”. |
